Deliver What You Promise…

Those were the corporate values of College Pro Painters when I worked for them from 1986-1994.  During those years is when I also really learned how to build companies, core values were part of that.

Those core values stuck with me.  They are clear, simple, and impacting.  They were well thought out by the leadership team who brought them to us.  And I remember calling people on them, including myself & my own boss at one time.  They worked.

Those values still work today.  They are ones that I judge business dealings on frequently.  It’s interesting to me that those values ring so true still for me, even though I have my own values for BackPocket COO below – I occasionally judge the business moves of others based on the first core values I learned to live by – College Pros.

Here are mine:

Do What You Love

Be Authentic

Deliver What You Promise

Balance Is Key

Yes Cameron,

Decided not to move forward until I can deliver on my promises. Made that decision just last month. I’m learning the importance of these values for myself and in the quality of the vendors I work with. So true! :)

Cameron – well said! Far too many companies have core values, philosophies that they state yet fail to act on. The “Delivery” is so key.

Hi Cameron,

Do you notice any correlation between the success or failure of companies with or without core values and vision?

Would love to hear from your experiences.

Hi Cameron:
I might change this by adding, “Promise What You Will Deliver” then follow with Deliver On That Promise.

I think many entrepreneurs promise the moon, and then deliver some canned solution.
