I’m Stopping The Insanity…

Time Management

The ScreamIn 2012, I’m taking some time back for me.

I’ve been on overdrive again for the last 18 months. Largely, I poured myself into working full bore again, because I was avoiding some personal issues I wasn’t happy with. Now that I’m working through those, I’m taking back some time for me again.

Time to reconnect with what matters. My kids. My friends. Myself. My family. My girlfriend.

Time to remain interested in my hobbies. Tennis, reading, skiing, golf, and cooking. Time to start hiking…

Time to stop working around the clock. Time to start saying NO to speaking events I don’t want to do. And only say yes to the ones that inspire me. Time to say NO to coaching clients that aren’t a great fit for me. And time to stop working Fridays.  I’m finally hiring an assistant too.  Yes it will cost me some money – but I’d rather have the free time.

I’ve just blocked off EVERY Friday in 2012 as Free Time. Time to not work. So if you want to go for a hike, a run, play golf, tennis, etc. drop me a note – as long as we don’t talk biz – I’m in.  What are you doing to keep balanced ?

I’ve heard you speak and think your assistant would be a lucky person. Where do I apply?!

Hi Cam,

Very inspiring and forward looking thought piece which calls upon all of us crazy busy to start doing the same and slow down. Indeed, life flies through our business and it is complicated to find ways to re-organize the professional life without radical changes as your decision is a good illustration.

Well done! And always remember that Fridays in the Geneva area got to be as prestine as Vancouver so hop in for a Swiss relaxation moment.

Wow Cameron!

Thanks for putting it out there. I’m doing an amazing 30 day challenge with Chalene Johnson that’s powerful in helping me set priorities for 2012. And yes! Her program includes putting what matters most in its proper place. In fact, I’m framing my career around my lifestyle after nearly having a nervous breakdown this year. Love reading that you are also preparing to do well in 2012! Go Cameron!

Good for you! I recently heard someone say “I’m calling this No – vember” I will say No to more things than I say yes to. Gets you in the right frame of mind.

Great news. Well done. I remember your commitment to Fridays off from years ago — I didn’t realize you had wavered. Good to be back on that program. My fave Friday winter break is snowshoeing Mt. Seymour. Dropping you a note re: this right now.

Sounds good Cam. We have been semi-retired for a while now and enjoy the few days a week off to do whatever. I definately don’t do work that I don’t want to do! Life’s too short.

I have started booking appointments to exercise in my calendar – including an aquatics aerobic class that meets at 10:00 on Tues! I am working my business around my need to focus on fitness, not the other way around. Bravo to you Cameron. Hope we can do a hike some Friday!

My balance took on a life of its own and ended up an ironman triathlon. Playing more beach volleyball now and asking friends for accountability. Seems being driven might require 12 steps….
